Hi, Greg Safel – Singing Lessons Los Angeles here, and I want to talkfor a minute about working the upper side of the voice, the falsetto. It’s important to work the falsetto because it is half of the musclesystem that operate the vocal cords. It’s extremely important that wework both sides of vocal chords in order to make the full mechanismwork the way it’s supposed to work. A lot of men don’t like working upin that high register, they’re afraid of it, they’re afraid that itsounds feminine or makes them sound funny, or maybe it will make themhave a high voice! Must pop singers rely on that part of their voice!if you listen to pop singers they sing up there so it’s reallyimportant that anyone working with the voice, actors, singers, thatyou work both sides of the mechanism. If you work the topside of thevoice it actually causes more resonance in the chest voice, and that’swhat we want, because if there is not enough resonance in the chestvoice then the voice is flat, colorless and not very expressive. So wehave to work both sides of the voice, the upper register and the lowerregister, and we work it as one voice. Don’t be afraid of that uppervoice!
